Do Pugs snore that much, or that loudly?

In a word, yes. Almost every Pug snores, and usually it’s not as loud as a person, but it can easily be mistaken for someone snoring. Pugs snort, snarfle and snore and often will pass a lot of gas too. Just expect them to be noisy dogs, but not barkers.

How long do Pugs normally live?

Can Pug’s eyes pop out?
Yes they can, but it doesn’t just happen. If you squeeze the neck too hard or pull too hard on a choke collar, a pug’s eyes can pop out. This is called a prolapse. This is rare but you should take them to the vet immediately if this happens.

How much daily care do Pug’s require then?
Really not that much. On a weekly basis, you should brush their coat, keep their faces clean and check their eyes for problems. Most Pugs take about 20 minutes a week. Monthly, you should also trim their toe nails, and maybe give them a bath if they need it. Many owners find using a shedding comb such as a Furminator, monthly greatly reduces the amount of Pug hair on their clothes and carpets

Do your Pugs paws get irritated after going on their walks?
This may just be something as simple as a grass seed stuck between their toes, grit or somethiing a farmer has sprayed on their field. Try washing their paws with a gentle dog shampoo as soon as you get back, paying particular attention to between the pads and toes, then applying a small amount of Sudocrem between the pads and toes and slighty up the legs, gently massaging the cream in the opposite direction to the hair to make sure it reaches the skin underneath the fur. This may have to be done more than once, but should see an improvement within half hour. Some dogs may need medical treatment for their allergies. Please consult a vet if the problem persists

Is there a difference between Fawn and Black Pugs?

Are Pugs easy to train?
Pugs are moderately easy to train, making them neither easy to train, nor difficult. They maintain a stubborn streak, which can present occasional problem. Fortunately though, a Pug is a people dog that is eager to please and receive attention…And they’re lovers of all things edible with the possible exception of lettuce and thus can be bribed to do what you want them to do rather easily.

Do Pugs bark a lot?
Not usually. Pugs are generally very quiet dogs, though they can be taught to bark and make lots of noise. To answer a related question, the Pug’s bark is not yappy or shrill like the bark of some other small dogs.

QUESTION: Do Pugs make good watch dogs or guard dogs?
ANSWER: Not usually. Some pugs may alert you that someone is nearby by barking gently (Pugs don’t bark loudly, in general, because it’s muffled by the lips), but most Pugs are more interested in greeting new people rather than scaring them off. The look of the Pug often will scare people – especially if you have a Bullmastiff in the yard too. Then you can just say that the Pug is a puppy and it grows up into the Bullmastiff (sorry, that’s Pug humor).

QUESTION: Do Pugs really like to dress up in costumes like I see in all the pictures?
ANSWER: Actually, they usually do. Pugs are very extroverted dogs, and do just about anything for a laugh from their people. If they discover that wearing a costume makes you happy, they’ll do it. If it gets them laughter and applause, that’s even better!
